Shelby Township resident Wendy Pulaski told the crowd -- before she introduced Michelle Obama -- that she was amazed one day when her husband announced he was voting for Barack Obama.

"This is basically a miracle," said Pulaski, 29, a campaign volunteer and restaurant manager and bartender. "He's been a staunch Republican all his life. He knows this country will not be repaired without Barack Obama."

Wendy and her husband Jason are friends of ours. When we first met them earlier this year, Jason was still supporting McCain. He actually came to the light side only a few weeks ago. I'd like to think my drunken rantings on the evils of republicans were at least partially responsible.

I guess Wendy was contacted by Obama's speech writer early last week and asked if she would tell her personal story and then introduce Michelle. Prior to the event Wendy got to hang out with Michelle for a while. During the speech, Michelle stepped out into the audience to hug Wendy and Jason's kids. Afterward, Michelle signed the speech.

Dude, I totally know someone who met someone famous. I'm so cool.
